Charcoal/ Graphite Illustrations

June 2017

New York

In this piece, I let the charcoal move almost on its own, spreading and branching like cracks through stone. The figure feels partially consumed by that darkness, as if thought or memory is overtaking the body. I kept the profile soft and grounded while allowing the marks above to grow wild and unpredictable. For me, it sits somewhere between erosion and release — a quiet unraveling happening just beneath the surface.
